Chuseok Cooking for Elderly Citizens
During Chuseok, our chapter cooked traditional Korean food for elderly citizens who live alone, so the holiday would not pass in silence for them.
Chuseok is one of Korea’s most important holidays, usually spent with family sharing food. Because some elderly citizens spend it alone, we wanted to cook and deliver something that carried a little of that warmth.
We spent about five hours making jeon and songpyeon. I enjoy cooking, so the work itself was a pleasure, and I hoped the food would make the holiday feel less lonely and more like it should.
